We specialize in off-site catering for private parties, corporate events, and weddings. Whether it is a corporate cocktail party or a full-service wedding, we are there every step of the way.

Catering Ventura - Main Course California - Robert Jacobi

Robert Jacobi
Robert grew up in an Austrian Ski Resort near Salzburg. Throughout his teenage years he worked in hospitality. He later refined his skills by attending Swiss Hotel School (Vieux Bois) while working at the Hotel-du-Rhone in Geneva. Robert’s list of talents and experiences reads like a fun round-the-world movie script:

He worked as skipper on sail boats as a teenager during summer months and later on imported Warsteiner beer into Athens, Greece.
He Graduated Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and proceeded to work for International hotels and catering companies.
Robert is a trained classical guitarist. He has played with some world-famous musicians back in the “Hollywood days”.
After a lifetime of experience managing hospitality Robert found his home on the Gold Coast and started Main Course California.

Chief Operations Officer

Judy Taylor
Born in Atlanta & raised in Chattanooga, TN, southern hospitality is in Judy Taylor’s blood. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Special Education. Judy attributes her love of food and wine to her years living in San Francisco and working at a five-star resort in Lake Tahoe. A move to Ventura led Judy to Main Course California where she has found a home with others who share her passion for all things food and wine. Judy is a First Level Certified Sommelier, and we encourage you to ask her for some excellent wine pairings.

We call Judy the Ultimate Listener, as she is able to hear what our clients want and create an event that is perfect for them. Among the many hats Judy wears, she’s also our in-house florist. Should you ever stop by our office you might walk-in to see tables full of local and international flowers being expertly assembled into gorgeous arrangements that will be used to make anyone’s special day that much more beautiful.

Judy gets inspiration from her daily runs on the beach, which is good because she is currently obsessed with small-batch butters from grass fed cows. It makes everything taste divine!

Executive Chef

Anthony Sewell
Tony is the heart of our Culinary Department. We love him, and we know you will, too.

Tony was born and raised in Southern California and has always had a calling for the culinary field, cooking up traditional Japanese cuisine with his mother and adding a bit of southern flavor from his father’s side. It made perfect sense for him to become a chef, so he did what every California foodie must do. He moved to San Francisco where he graduated from the California Culinary Academy – Le Cordon Bleu. After working for some amazing chefs in San Francisco, Tony returned to Ventura County to become the Banquet Sous Chef for a top local Country Club, leading the weddings and special events department. Then we found him and begged him to work with us, and just like a good engagement story goes, he said, “yes!!!!”

We love Tony’s passion for creating exciting, flavorful food right from the farm. Want to know what is in season? Tony is our local farmer expert and can tell you what is growing that is delicious right now. We love seeing what unique and delicious local produce he discovers for us!

Director of Marketing & Events

Shelley Jensen
Shelley was born and raised in Culver City and has always been passionate about Event Planning! She is known by her friends and family as the “plot and planner.” Ever since she was little she was always the one planning what was happening next!

In 2007 she moved to Ventura County to study at California State University Channel Islands. After receiving her BA in Communication, she worked a few years in PR and Digital Marketing. Although she really enjoyed Marketing and Advertising she decided that the office life was not for her. In 2016 she pursued her dream of becoming an Event Planner and joined the Main Course Ca team.

Over the past year Shelley has figured out how to incorporate her knowledge in Digital Marketing to one of the many hats she wears at Main Course Ca. Shelley is involved with Event Sales, Event Production and Coordination, Marketing and much more!

Office Administraton

Heidi Jacobson
After graduating from California State University Northridge Heidi’s event career started in Sales and Catering. Several years later Heidi transitioned into planning entertainment for events which involved Disc Jockeys, Costumed Choreographed Dancers, Bands and Video Production. Well rounded in all aspects of how to plan and expedite events, becoming an Event Planner was a natural progression for Heidi. With over 30 years in the events industry planning Mitzvahs, Weddings and Corporate Events, Heidi has brought numerous clients visions to reality. Heidi’s expert planning and managing of each event gives clients the freedom to be a guest at their own party.

Fun Fact: Many repeat clients! Heidi planned a Bat-mitzvah, Wedding and Baby Shower all for the same client. I watched this beautiful girl grow up from the age of 12 – 30 years old celebrating huge milestones in her life. I now feel like part of the family!

Inspirations: Staying on the pulse of trends is important when relating to what a client wants. I have seen many colors, and styles come and go over the years. Making sure I have the most current, professional vendors available to make sure the event runs well and has “wow” impact!

Can’t Live without: My notes and timelines. Great planning means all involved with the celebration are on the same page. This is all reviewed in great detail prior to every party.

Favorite Event Detail: An unexpected surprise. Midnight In & Out Truck, beautiful candy station or hot doughnuts at the end of the night! Yum!

Executive Sous Chef

Donald Mayo
We are excited to have Donald as our newest addition to the Main Course Ca team. Donald is a Washington D.C. native with over 11 years of culinary experience. His enthusiasm and eagerness to learn has led to many of his accomplishments over the years.
Donald graduated with honors in Culinary Arts from Stratford University in Fairfax, Virginia. After graduation he gained extensive culinary experience working across the East Coast and the South at various venues which include the Marriot, the Atlanta Braves Stadium and FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins.

Now living in Southern California, Donald plans to bring his wide-range of experience in the industry, partnered with his keen attention to detail, speedy and precise execution of food operations and engaging personality to the Main Course Ca team. Donald believes in creating a new and innovative approach to food and would like to inspire other chefs with his story.
